|Foreign Travel Grants||March 12, 2016||
The final round of 2015-2016 Foreign Travel Grants (FTGs) is for travel starting dates between May 16, 2016-January 16, 2017. Applications are due to LAS by March 12, 2016. The LAS Faculty Development Committee will review the LAS submissions and will forward their recommendations to the Faculty Senate by April 1, 2016. Please note that paper copies are not needed. Please submit one electronic PDF copy of each FTG application with a CV included in a separate PDF file to Mallory Hamilton. Please contact William Gutowski or Mallory Hamilton with questions. |LAS Small Grants Program||October 1
The LAS Small Grants Program is intended for faculty in disciplines (primarily humanities) that have limited opportunities for obtaining external research funding. The maximum request for each proposal is $1,250 for domestic conference travel, $1,750 for activities that directly support research, or $2,250 for foreign travel/research. Please request only one category. Proposals must be limited to one page (see the second page of linked attachment) and must be approved by your department chair. Submit applications via email to Nolan McDonald and Bill Gutowski. Reports are due within 30 days following the end of the funding, which will normally be June 30.
|Bailey Research Career Development Award||March 7, 2016||
Applications should be submitted electronically to the LAS College (Bill Gutowski). Eligibility is restricted to full-time tenured associate professors and professors. The overall goal of this award is to foster innovative research (outside of established research program) and, not only increase knowledge, but have practical applications. The Bailey award should allow faculty to devote time toward high-risk, high-impact research addressing emerging scientific, technical and/or societal problems resulting in practical applications and, in appropriate disciplines, extramural funding. The LAS College will provide one selected application electronically to Sue Shipitalo in the VPR/ED Office by April 3, 2015. One award of $50,000 per year for two or three years will be made competitively in spring 2015.
|LAS Seed Grants for Social Science||March 15||
The LAS Seed Grants for Social Sciences (SGSS) provide competitive funding to enhance scholarly research in the social sciences and enable preliminary data in support of future extramural grant proposals. The maximum award amount is $8,000. Proposals should be submitted to Associate Dean Bill Gutowski and Nolan McDonald. Research reports are due within 30 days following the end of the funding, which will normally be June 30.

The Office of the Vice President for Research is responsible for awarding funds through the Publication Subvention Grants Program. Grants are available to support the publication of the scholarly writings and other worthy productions of Iowa State University faculty and staff and selected others. |Limited Submissions Grants||Internal Deadlines||
The process for selecting proposals is the same: For each solicitation, PI's should submit the pre-proposals to their colleges. The Dean's Office will conduct their review and forward their pick to the VPR/ED Office. Each college may submit no more than the number of proposals that an institution can submit. The VPR/ED Office will assemble an ad hoc review team and make the final selection.Instructions to PI: Your pre-proposal should contain the following information:
